・Footscray is located about 6km west of Melbourne CBD(central business
district).
・This has been an immigrant area for a long time, and therefore the shopping
street is older than other areas we have researched.
・The shopping area is spread out in a rectangle shape, and is surrounded by
Irving Street, Nicholson street, Hopkins Street, and Paisley street. The main
street is Leeds Street which runs north to south west of Footscray station.
The shops line the rectangle, enclosing the several car parks inside.
・Many grocery market stalls gather in front of the station. Further from
station, more restaurants and clothing shops can be seen.
・The shops tend to be grouped relative to their ethicity. For example, Chinese
and Vietnamese shops can generally be found to the northeast side, African
shops to the southwest. Indian, Islamic, Thai, and Filipino shops are more
centered around the front of the station.
